Give the gift of green during the holiday season!
Did you know that you've sent 11,134 evergreens to a second life since 2005? As one of our most popular programs, TreeCycle continues to grow as the popularity of fresh, cut holiday trees increases. Thanks to TreeCycle and your participation, these trees are gifted a second chance to do something good. Trees are turned into useful mulch that that is reused at the regional landfill.
Through the end of January each year, Frederick and Clarke residents may take their cut Christmas trees to the nearest citizens' convenience site for recycling. Trees are not accepted at the Greenwood Road site. Residents in the Greenwood community should take their trees directly to the landfill's citizens' center where green waste is accepted all year.
Trees should be free of decorations, tinsel and stands. Remove wire from wreaths, swags, and roping prior to recycling. All trees are ground into mulch and reused at the landfill.
