What should be included on my Erosion and Sediment Control/Stormwater plan?

Please see Chapter 143 of the County Code (County Code Chapter 143)  and the FCPW Review Checklist for specific requirements (https://www.fcva.us/Home/ShowDocument?id=12388).

When is an erosion and sediment control plan required?

An approved erosion and sediment control plan is required for any project requiring a land disturbance permit.  This does not include single-family dwelling construction utilizing an agreement-in-lieu of an erosion and sediment control plan.

When is a stormwater plan required?

An approved stormwater plan is required for any project requiring VSMP coverage.  This does not include single-family dwelling construction utilizing an agreement-in-lieu of a stormwater plan.

How do I use the VRRM spreadsheet for water quality computations?

What is required when utilizing the “forest/open space” land cover type within the VRRM spreadsheet?

Land cover guidance is provided in DEQ Guidance Memo No. 16-2001 (https://swbmpvwrrc.wp.prod.es.cloud.vt.edu/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/GM16-2001-Virginia-Runoff-Reduction-Method_V3.pdf).  Any conserved open space being utilized for water quality purposes must be protected by a perpetual easement, deed restriction or maintenance agreement that assigns the responsible party to ensure that no future development, disturbance, or clearing may occur within the area. Meets and bounds must be provided on the site plan/subdivision plan which identify the conserved open space area so that the area(s). The perimeter of the Conserved Open Space shall be protected by super silt fence, chain link fence, or orange safety fence during construction. If the conserved open space is located within HOA common areas, signage may be required to prevent routine mowing of these areas.
