Program Overview

The Park Bench Donation Program is designed to increase public enjoyment of the park system in Frederick County.  Giving the gift of a new park bench provides an invaluable service to the community.  Donors may choose which park they would like to see their bench located, and work with our staff to select a specific site.  Plaques (4” x 8” engraved stainless steel) are available for benches where donors may have their name listed, honor a loved one, or acknowledge a special achievement or memory.

General notes:

• Frederick County Parks and Recreation (FCPRD) will order, assemble, and install a donated bench in approved locations at Sherando, Clearbrook, Rose Hill, and Frederick Heights Parks.
• FCPRD will perform general maintenance and upkeep around the bench area.
• A bench is guaranteed for the ‘useful life’ of a bench, a minimum of 10 years. Benches will remain after 10 years if they are determined to be in useful condition (determined by the Parks Superintendent).
• FCPRD accepts no liability for damage to any bench from vandals or third parties.
• FCPRD reserves the right to remove any donated benches that have been damaged or are beyond repair (as determined by the Parks Superintendent).
• Benches are constructed of coated metal and are green in color.
• The cost of a park bench is $900. Exact model/style is subject to change due to availability.
• For those wishing to place a plaque on the bench to acknowledge the donation, a stainless steel 4” x 8” engraved plaque is included. Plaque will be installed to the backrest of the bench.
• In the event the plaque is damaged, defaced, and/or removed, FCPRD will replace it for the useful life of the bench.
