The Campaign
The Frederick County broadband campaign looks to address underserved areas of our county. City and County residents are being asked to provide additional information about Internet capacity and availability in their communities. From the previous Accelerate VA project and along with other sources, this data will support Frederick County's broadband mapping initiative and be used to identify areas in need of broadband infrastructure investment. Access to affordable high-speed broadband networks is critical to expanding telework and workforce training opportunities as well as new business development in Frederick County.
What Is Considered Broadband Internet?
Upload and download speeds are ranked from Tier 0-7, with 0 being the slowest and 7 being the fastest.
NOFA guidelines: The National Telecommunications and Information Agency (NTIA) has determined that Broadband Internet Access is the use of transmission technologies that provide minimum download speeds of 768 kilobits per second (kbps) and minimum upload speeds of 200 kbps.
