Construction began in July on the new Gainesboro citizens' convenience site located next to the former Gainesboro Elementary School. The site will replace the current facility on Gainesboro Road, providing improved access and facilities. The site is expected to open by the end of 2013. This public works project has been planned for many years. Not only will the new location offer improved access and facilities, but recycling opportunities will be expanded. It is expected that the facility will serve the disposal needs of the western end of the county for many years to come.
