Frederick County Sheriff's Office, Traffic Division Lieutenant Warren Gosnell was presented the 2017 Law Enforcement, Governor's Transportation Safety Award. The award was presented during the Virginia Highway Safety Summit on May 23, 2018 at the Founders Inn in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The Law Enforcement Award was among several that were given for different categories at the ceremony. The awards were given to individuals and organizations that strive to save lives on Virginia's roadways. According to Sheriff Lenny Millholland, who nominated Lt. Gosnell, "Lt. Gosnell was involved in numerous safety programs and initiatives in 2017. Lieutenant Gosnell approached the task of better educating the motoring public on traffic safety and enforcement and utilized various forms of demonstrations, education, enforcement, and the media to spread safety messages."
"One special event was when Lt. Gosnell partnered with a local radio station (WZRV 95.3) for multiple appearances on the radio to discuss safety issues. Those issues were Impaired Driving and how easily individuals can find themselves facing a DUI just from social drinking after work or at a holiday get-together, school safety and preparing motorists for children going back to schoo,l and "The Little Things That Can Lead to a Traffic Stop" which informed listeners about those types of infractions that most drivers don't think or don't know could lead to being stopped or ticketed."
These were just a few of the many things that Lt. Gosnell has been a part of in assuring the safety and security of those traveling on the roads of Frederick County, VA. Sheriff Millholland stated further, "I am proud of the work our personnel do everyday and when one's work ethics and educational training can be commended then hopefully we can save lives. It's a start, we just had one month without a fatality. I am hoping it is because of the work many are doing with education and speed enforcement in Frederick County.''
We are proud of Lt. Gosnell.
