Battlefield Half Marathon: More Than a Half Marathon!
Frederick County Parks and Recreation is delighted to announce the running of our third annual Battlefield Half Marathon scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 5, 2016!
Experience all of the beauty of the fall in the Shenandoah Valley running in the area’s premier half marathon. At 13.1 miles the race is welcoming for casual runners but still provides a challenge for more seasoned participants. Not up for doing all of the 13.1 miles on your own? Grab a group of friends or co-workers, put a two or four person relay team together, and come join the fun.
This is a semi-flat course with great views of the orchards and the mountains of Frederick County, VA. This will be a closed course. Spectators will have three opportunities within the Kernstown battlefield to cheer on their family, friends, brothers, and sisters as they pass by.
We are excited to announce that we have again partnered with the Winchester Area Temporary Thermal Shelter “WATTS” to be the sole beneficiary for the event. The WATTS program provides a healthy and nutritious dinner, light breakfast, and shelter for the homeless one week at a time. This organization will also be providing volunteers on race day to make it a real community partnership.
Alongside the launch of the Battlefield Half Marathon, we will be presenting a new website for “everything running at FCPRD”! Runatthetop is a one stop shop for all FCPRD running events. We have also partnered with Imathlete to provide a smoother registration process for all of our runners.
To take advantage of our newly announced race software use coupon code BattlefieldLaunch16 for 15% off the entry fee. The deadline to use this code will be Friday, February 26 at midnight. This offer is not valid for relay team discounts.
Visit either fcprd.net or runatthetop.net for full information on the race, all of its components, sponsors, accommodations, dining and more!
