WINCHESTER, VA, June 17, 2020: On Tuesday, June 16, the Governor announced that State Executive offices would be closed this Friday, June 19 and stated his intent to submit a bill to the legislature for consideration in making this an official state holiday going forward. Virginia has long marked Juneteenth by issuing a proclamation, but the date has not previously been considered a state holiday.
As Frederick County Government traditionally follows the State holiday calendar our offices will be closed on Friday.
The landfill and all citizen convenience sites will be open normal hours. The Office of Elections will be closed on Friday but will be open on Saturday, 9 a.m.-5p.m. for absentee in-person voting.
